FORBIDDEN (MUFSIDAT e NAMAAZ) ACTIONS IN NAMAAZ

'Undoubtedly, the believers reached to their goal'

'Those who beseech in their prayers'

'And those who turn away from vain talk'

(Surah Al-Mo'minoon. verse 1,2,3)

Forbidden acts are those non-sense acts whose indulgence will make the Namaaz invalid, and the Namaaz will have to be repeated. Even sajda sawh will not rectify such Namaaz.

1.    Speaking in Namaaz deliberately or unintentionally.

(Bahar e Shariyat, Durr e Mukhtar)

2.    Greetings or replying to someone's salaam. (Fatawa Alamgiri, Durr e Mukhtar)

3.    Replying for sneezing by saying ya Rahmuqullah. After finishing Namaaz, then reply for sneezing. (Bahar e Shariyat, Fatawa Alamgiri)

4.    Replying to good or bad news by saying Alhamdu-lillah or Inna-lillahi wa inna ilaihi raaji'oon.

5.    Forceful sounds or weeping due to pain e.g. ah, oh, uff etc. However, the Namaaz will be valid if weeping was silent, and just tears came out.

(Bahar e Shariyat)

6.    Deliberate blowing with sound. (Ghunyah Shar'h e Munyah)

7.    Making sounds pretending to clear the throat without a valid reason.

(Bahar e Shariyat, Fatawa Razviyah, Durr e Mukhtar)

8.    Giggling or laughter will make the Namaaz as well as the wudu invalid.

(Fatawa Razviyah, Durr e Mukhtar)

9.    Laughing silently also makes the Namaaz invalid, but wudu is still valid.

(Bahar e Shariyat)

10. 'Counting the number of verses or tasbeeh with tongue movement.

(Bahar e Shariyat)

11. 'Exposure of satr while performing a rukun of Namaaz.e.g. Wearing of t-shirt'' and short shirts exposes the back of a person whilst performing sajda.

(Bahar e Shariyat, Fatawa Razviyah)

12. 'Wearing extremely thin clothes from which private parts are visible. It is forbidden for ladies to perform Namaaz with thin veil through which the shade of hair is visible. (Fatwa Razviyah), Raddul Muhtar)

13. Masbooq is one who is late in joining the congregation Namaaz i.e. he has missed a rakaat or rakaats. He has to complete his missed rakaat or rakaats after the imaam concludes the Namaaz by making salaam. However, the masbooq will not follow the imaam in making salaam as his Namaaz is incomplete. If a masbooq makes salaam with the imaam, his Namaaz will become invalid. (Bahar e Shariyat, Fatawa Alamgiri)
