EID NAMAAZ

'And (He wants) for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah as He guided you and (so that) perhaps you may be grateful'

(Surah Al-Baqara. verse 185)

'By 'complete the period', means completing the twenty-nine or thirty days of fasting. The verse is a clear proof for offering Eid Salaah, reciting takbeers (glorify Allah) on this day, celebrating the blessings and favours of Ramadhan.'

(Tafseer Noor Ul Irfaan with English translation of Kanzul Imaan)

Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha are essential (wajib) Namaaz

The time for the Eid Namaaz is from when the sun rises to a height of one spear (approx. fifteen to twenty minutes after sunrise) till after the sun has declined (zawaal). But it is desirable (mustahab) to delay a bit for Eid Ul-Fitr and hurry it for Eid-Ul Adha. There is no adhan and iqaamat before the Eid Namaaz. Both of the Eid Namaaz is performed in the same manner.

Method of performing Eid Namaaz:

It is wajib to recite six additional takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) in Eid Namaaz.

(Bahar e Shariyat)

Stand in a normal position looking only at the place of sajda and make intention (niyat), 'I intend to pray two rakaats wajib Namaaz for Eid Ul-Fitr or Eid Ul-Adha, with six additional takbeer, facing the direction of Kabah, for Allah Ta'ala, behind this imaam'. By saying takbeer e tahreema (Allaahu Akbar), fold your hands and

recite thana. The imaam will then recite takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) three times, letting go of the hands after saying takbeer twice, and then folding them after the third takbeer. The imaam will then recite Surah Fateha, another Surah, and then perform ruku and sajda.

In the second rakaat, after reciting Surah Fateha and another surah, and before performing ruku the imaam will raise his hands to the ear lobes reciting takbeer three times and letting go of his hands. While reciting the fourth takbeer, the hands should not be raised up to the ear lobes but should go into ruku and complete the Namaaz according to the rules.

Takbeer e Tashreef- the following takbeer should be recited immediately after Fajr Namaaz on 9th of Dhul Hijjah and continued upto the Asr Namaaz on the 13th of Dhul Hijjah. Reciting it once after every Namaaz is wajib but reciting it three times is more rewarding.

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar, Laa ilaaha Illal la Hu

Allaahu Akbar, Allaahu Akbar Wa Lil Laahil Hamd
